GREEN COFFEES

We’ve established three criteria for the evaluation of coffee: flavour/scent, quality of beans, and social fairness. If we favour a specific coffee, but are not able to trace its origin, we won’t purchase it. This is in comparison to the general coffee export business, where at least 80 % of green coffee is traded with no knowledge of actual origin and is managed through middlemen, who pay low prices for inferior goods. In comparison to the average worldwide market for green coffee, our assortment has a higher quality and therefore it is more expensive, even in comparison to Fair Trade-certified coffee. We are part of a trading field that is ruled by quality and demand. First and foremost we buy coffee that is cultivated on small farms. Based on our experience, the owners of these plantations pay their workers a proper salary, which has an important influence in the long run on the quality of product. We also don’t purchase without first researching the social standards on the farms.

Coffee is a product of nature and therefore differs from harvest to harvest. As a result, we buy seasonally and change our assortment every few months. Finding another exceptional coffee is our greatest pleasure!
